Hard chrome plating, across five specialisms.

We focus on a single process and tune it to the conditions your part works in. Each of the areas below calls for its own technical approach.

02The basics

What is hard chrome?

Hard chrome is a high-hardness, low-friction chromium layer deposited electrolytically on steel and cast-iron parts.

What sets it apart from decorative chrome is its function. Decorative chrome is a thin cosmetic layer over nickel; hard chrome goes straight onto the base metal and protects it against wear, friction and corrosion, extending the service life of the part.

03 Process

Six stations, from receiving to dispatch.

Every part follows the same sequence — so the result is repeatable, not a matter of luck.

  1. 01

    Receiving and inspection

Dimensions, material and surface damage are logged and a job card is opened.

    Size · material · damage

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Degreasing and rinsing make the surface ready for plating.

    Degrease · rinse

  3. 03

    Masking

Threads, grooves, bearing seats and other bare zones are protected.

    Tape · lacquer · plugs

  4. 04

    Activation and plating

After anodic activation, the part is plated in the chrome bath at controlled current and temperature.

  5. 05

    Hydrogen relief

High-strength steels are baked to prevent hydrogen embrittlement.

    190–220 °C

  6. 06

    Final inspection and dispatch

The part goes through a final check and ships in protective packaging.

04 FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01 What is the difference between hard and decorative chrome?

Decorative chrome is a thin bright layer applied over nickel. Hard chrome goes directly onto the base metal and provides functional protection against wear, friction and corrosion.

02 Will my part fit your tank?

Our plating tank measures 1,400 × 3,000 × 1,000 mm (height × width × depth), and the heaviest part we can handle is 3,000 kg. For parts close to these limits, send us a drawing or dimensions first.

03 Which materials can be plated?

Carbon and alloy steels, tool steels and cast iron. Stainless steel and non-ferrous metals need special pre-treatment, so we assess them case by case.

04 How many times can a part be reconditioned?

As long as the base metal stays sound, several times. The incoming measurement on each cycle tells us.

05 What is the lead time?

It depends on quantity and size. We confirm a written delivery date with every quote.
