Hard chrome plating
Hard chrome is a high-hardness, low-friction chromium layer deposited electrolytically on steel and cast-iron parts. Unlike decorative chrome, it is a functional layer applied directly to the base metal — and it directly extends the service life of the part.
Drawings are representative and will be replaced with real project photos.
01Benefits
What it delivers
-
High hardness
70 HRC — a surface harder than most hardened steels.
-
Low friction
Reduces heat, galling and wear on sliding and rotating surfaces.
-
Corrosion resistance
Hard chrome shields the surface from moisture and many chemicals.
-
Large, heavy parts
We plate parts up to 3,000 mm long and 3,000 kg in weight.
02Use cases
Applications
- 01 Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder rods
- 02 Press and injection machine components
- 03 Plastic and rubber moulds
- 04 Printing, packaging and textile rolls
- 05 Shafts, axles, pins and bushes
03Planning
What we plan for
- Size allowance
- Plating adds to the part’s size. We agree your post-plate dimensional requirements with you at the quoting stage.
- Masking
- Threads, grooves and bearing seats that must stay bare are marked on the job card and protected.
- Hydrogen embrittlement
- For high-strength steels, post-plate baking removes the risk of hydrogen embrittlement.
04 FAQ
Frequently asked questions
01 What is the difference between hard and decorative chrome?
Decorative chrome is a thin bright layer applied over nickel. Hard chrome goes directly onto the base metal and provides functional protection against wear, friction and corrosion.
02 Will my part fit your tank?
Our plating tank measures 1,400 × 3,000 × 1,000 mm (height × width × depth), and the heaviest part we can handle is 3,000 kg. For parts close to these limits, send us a drawing or dimensions first.
03 Which materials can be plated?
Carbon and alloy steels, tool steels and cast iron. Stainless steel and non-ferrous metals need special pre-treatment, so we assess them case by case.
