Mould chrome plating
An even layer of hard chrome on the cavity reduces sticking, protects the surface from abrasive and corrosive filled plastics, and makes cleaning easier.
Drawings are representative and will be replaced with real project photos.
01Benefits
What it delivers
-
Easier release
Chrome reduces plastic sticking and helps shorten cycle times.
-
Wear resistance
Protects the cavity from abrasive glass- and mineral-filled plastics.
-
Corrosion protection
Shields the tool steel from corrosive off-gassing materials such as PVC.
-
Easy cleaning
Residue clings less to chrome, so maintenance intervals get longer.
02Use cases
Applications
- 01 Plastic injection moulds
- 02 Rubber and PVC moulds
- 03 Blow moulds
- 04 Press and forming tools
03Planning
What we plan for
- Geometry
- Conforming auxiliary anodes and masking are prepared for an even deposit across corners and deep channels.
- Surface quality
- Chrome copies the surface beneath it exactly; the condition in which the mould arrives decides the final finish.
04 FAQ
Frequently asked questions
01 Can a mould be stripped and re-chromed?
Yes. The worn chrome is removed without harming the base steel, then the mould is plated again.
02 Can only certain areas be plated?
Yes — with masking, we can plate just the cavity or the areas that wear.
